Church History: The Reformation
1517 – the fateful year that Martin Luther posted his famous 95 Theses on the door of the Wittenberg church. His call for reform in the Christian church of his day sparked what we now call the Protestant Reformation … which changed the church, the Western world, and world history in profound and significant ways. In 2017, the world will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, and we at Saints Bible Institute look forward to joining in the festivities!
Together we will study the antecedents of the Reformation, the rise of Luther, and his influence on other expressions of reform in Europe. We will then trace the heritage of the Reformation to our present day – with significant emphasis on the impact Christianity had, and continues to have, on broader aspects of world culture.
This course features classes at the Saints Bible Institute campus in San Lorenzo, coupled with amazing travel experiences to the lands of Martin Luther and Jan Hus: Wittenberg, Erfurt and Munich in Germany; Prague in the Czech Republic.
