Semester dates:
January 29 - April 26 | *Please note that students should arrive in Italy on January 29, which means that your flight from the US will probably depart on the previous day. Similarly, students should depart from Italy on the last day of the term. It is especially important to adhere to this itinerary to facilitate transportation to and from the Venice airport.

Program cost: $7500. Students are responsible for purchasing their own textbooks. Most books may be purchased cheaply through Amazon with free shipping. See list of syllabuses below for course requirements.

Application deadline: November 15, 2009

Deadline for all paperwork and tuition payments:
December 1, 2009
Payments or paperwork received after the December 1 deadline will result in a $100 late fee.

* Some textbooks are available for check-out at SBI. These texts are indicated below in green. Please note that all textbooks that are available at SBI are based on a first come basis. Please email Samuel Spatola to reserve your copy. Make sure to include your name and that you are an SBI student in the subject box. Also, all textbooks are 'rented' to students, which means that they must be returned at the end of the semester in good condition. All costs are in Euro, no US Dollars or Checks please. Also you will need a Bible to use in just about every class at SBI; we suggest you simply bring the ESV Study Bible that is assigned for New Testament Lit. & Interpretation course in order to cut down on your space and weight restrictions.

  Cultural Apologetics

  It is every Christian’s duty to do apologetics, i.e. make disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:18-20), enslave ourselves to everyone for this purpose (I Cor. 9:19-23), and stand ready to offer an apologia for the obvious hope that we have (I Pet. 3:15). This class will explore culturally relevant (with an emphasis on, although not limited to, American culture) ways to understand and express hope from a Biblical worldview by discussing various apologetic methods, providing and introducing tools for cultural analysis, and looking at significant social issues that can serve as key application points for communicating the Gospel.   An examination of a 12th century Christian mystic and literary works that have proven historically significant in shaping the spiritual theology and practice of the church and the Christian. A discussion of Saint Francis continuing relevance for the church at large today will be of particular importance.
